The African Rain brings healing...to the land, and to my sinuses! I sit and listen to the many different chirping of birds, and look at the different plants and insects, and cannot help but marvel at how vast and diverse God made this world of ours. But there is one thing that remains the same in people...no matter where they are from, what their upbringing is – they need a hope! They need a savior!
This last month has been quite the adjustment for our team to be in Rwanda. We have come face to face with a culture missing a generation. There were so many people who died in the Genocide, and now there are many people who have grown up and started families and don't know what parenting should be like. We have done some Sunday School programs where there are 150 kids crammed into a makeshift shack behind the church. The general idea from parents about Sunday School is that it is a day care facility. They don't seem to put much of an emphasis in actually teaching the kids the Bible or about God...they just teach them "church" and to shout out "Hallelujah! Amen!"
It was an awesome opportunity that we had with these children. We got to teach them Bible stories, but also present the gospel in a fun, interesting way to the kids. Hopefully they learned that God doesn't have to be strict and boring. We also had the privilege to hand out Samaritan's Purse Shoe Boxes! It was so exciting to see the kids receive a gift...until we ran out. We were so thankful that at least we could make balloon animals for the kids who didn't receive anything. But it was hard to only give a balloon that wouldn't last very long.
We have also done a lot of visits to people suffering with HIV and/or AIDS. We often go to support group meetings and pray with the people and encourage them, and hug them. As a team, we have been trying to discover "what can we do to help them?" For some, they feel like they have to save the world and stop the hunger. For others, they are devastated because all they can do is love...and it doesn't seem quite enough.

Prayer for continued health and strength to do the ministry. Pray also that many lives will be impacted, including all of us on this team.
